Frostbitten

After a week of surprisingly warm weather (+8 C) winter finally arrives. Well, maybe not exactly winter as such but frosts at least.

Przez ostatni tydzień była u nas wyjątkowo ciepła pogoda, bo +8st, aż do wczoraj kiedy to, nawiedziła nas zima. Może nie dokładnie zima, ale mróz.

 

Last week we went to the plot because we couldn't resist such beautiful weather.

W zeszłym tygodniu pojechaliśmy na działkę, aby wykorzystać tę piękną pogodę. 

We spotted a woodpecker on a tree :)

Udało się nam zobaczyć dzięcioła :)

I'm surprised to see roses flowering at this time of year.

Jestem zaskoczona, że róże mogą jeszcze teraz kwitnąć.

 

Mint and thyme look quite good.

Mięta i tymianek wyglądają całkiem nieźle.

Even cotoneaster and berberis are still full of bird food.

Nawet irga i berberys są ciągle pełne ptasiego jedzenia.

But yesterday we had -7 degrees of frost and everything was covered with it. It looked beautiful! As if everything was sprinkled with powdered sugar :)

Ale wczoraj było u nas -7 stopni i wszystko było pokryte szronem. Pięknie to wyglądało, tak jakby wszystko zostało posypane cukrem pudrem :)

Striped roses

I have several striped roses in my small collection.

I've never thought I would like such roses - but I do, I find them quite eye-catching.

Blue for You - incredible lilac rose.

 Blue for You is a bushy rose with amazing lilac flowers. 

Although it isn't fragrant, the flowers itself are quite big so you don't even think about the fragrance when you look at it :) 

 

 

Unfortunately, its leaves had turned out to be a delicacy for some insects, so that they perforated them. 

But, luckily, flowers were all safe :)

 

For me, it's gorgeous! 💙

 

Oh Wow / Purple Splash rose

Oh Wow / Purple Splash Rose - is a large-flowered climber. It can grow up to 400 cm high. 

I planted mine last autumn, but since then it has grown to about 1,4m high and bloomed a few flowers. It's still flowering though. 

The first developed blooms had been eaten by some insects so I had to wait more to see these fancy purple flowers. 

The first flowers had more white in a purple-white mix, but the next were darker.
