Memories of a 2012 Slavic Garden // Wspomienia ze Słowiańskiego Ogrodu w 2012 roku.

It's winter now, the 2nd of January.
Again, I have a feeling that a year has come full circle. Last September I looked at my garden thinking of the time passing and wondering of this year's garden. Now everything is repeating itself, I've looked at my garden and thought of this year's planting.

Take a look at our garden and harvests in 2012.

But first here's a colourful spring flower garden of my grandma Hanna, who unfortunately past away last September.

--------------------

  1. We grow many similar plants both flowers and edibles. We have a patch of horseradish that we have never harvested. We're a little wary of it!

I am impressed by your watermelon - the plant has interesting leaves too.

  2. Thank you for your comment :) I think that sweet peas, pansies, marigolds etc. are beautiful in their simplicity. Year by year they can be sown in different places, so every year the garden looks different and that's brilliant!

    1. Ja to lubię kanie przygotowane jak kotlety schabowe :) Są pycha, a nawet lepsze niż schabowe!

I like parasol mushrooms prepared as chops: first covered in flour, then in mixed eggs and finally covered in bread crumbs with a pinch of salt :) yummy!

  4. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip through your garden through the seasons! You grew so many things. I'm surprised you were able to grow tasty ripe watermelons, I can't do that in my garden, it doesn't get warm enough here.

    1. Thank you for stopping by :)
It was the first time I grew watermelons, I didn't think they would eventually grow fruits. The watermelons I get in the season on the market are usually from Bulgaria, but there the weather is much hotter than in Poland, so that's why I was so surprised.
I also grew a variety of watermelon with yellow pulp inside, but it turned out to be pretty bland in taste; neither sweet nor sour, just bland.

  5. Dewberry, I enjoyed looking at your lovely garden. Do you have dewberries in Poland? Your name intrigued me because I enjoy Dewberry picking. I was amazed at all you could grow in such a cold area. I live in Southeast Texas zone 10, very hot and humid. My Great grandfather came from Poland, the Dziadik line. He always had a lovely garden.
