Frostbitten

After a week of surprisingly warm weather (+8 C) winter finally arrives. Well, maybe not exactly winter as such but frosts at least.
---------------------

Przez ostatni tydzień była u nas wyjątkowo ciepła pogoda, bo +8st, aż do wczoraj kiedy to, nawiedziła nas zima. Może nie dokładnie zima, ale mróz.

Last week we went to the plot because we couldn't resist such beautiful weather.

--------------

W zeszłym tygodniu pojechaliśmy na działkę, aby wykorzystać tę piękną pogodę.

We spotted a woodpecker on a tree :)

----------------

Udało się nam zobaczyć dzięcioła :)

I'm surprised to see roses flowering at this time of year.

----------

Jestem zaskoczona, że róże mogą jeszcze teraz kwitnąć.

Mint and thyme look quite good.

-------

Mięta i tymianek wyglądają całkiem nieźle.

Even cotoneaster and berberis are still full of bird food.

---------

Nawet irga i berberys są ciągle pełne ptasiego jedzenia.

But yesterday we had -7 degrees of frost and everything was covered with it. It looked beautiful! As if everything was sprinkled with powdered sugar :)

------------

Back to the past: June // Powrót do przeszłości: czerwiec

While browsing photos on my computer, I realized that I have plenty of photos from last year's season that I can show you. I've never posted them because when I throw myself into gardening I'm always either too busy or too exhausted to write something on my blog about it.

I love taking photos and I always take hundreds of photos of plants and garden in general or animals and insects spotted somewhere among the plants.  That is why, like it or not, I end up having twenty photos of one single flower from several different perspectives 😅

I thought that I'll be posting these photos I took last year, just to wait till spring comes, or harbingers of spring appear at least. I named these series Back to the past and I'll try to post them alternately, I mean once a current, winter post and once some photos from the last season :)

New Year - New goals

It's going to be a busy year for us.

I have many plans I want to put into action.

The most important are:

  • buy some good soil and level the ground in the garden (There are still some depressions and hollows in the lawn we want to get rid of).

  • to build raised beds for vegetables (I'm thinking about 2-3 beds for now, especially for tomatoes and lettuce, and if they work out, I'll ask my husband to build more for the next year.)

  • to build wooden swing bench (Last year my husband built a great double wooden swing for kids (photo below). It looks great and kids love it but I'd like to have a swing for us too, so I could rest there with a cup of tea and look at the garden :) )

  • care about the pond, plant some plants there, arrange the border. (Right now it looks like a wild territory, there are lots of young black alder plants that are taking control over the place there.

So, these are some of the plans at my to-do list for this year.

I hope everything will go smoothly :)
